Tim Nohe: Sounding Out Media Arts (Public Lecture)



From sound artists to musicians to media artists working with auditory material, sound offers a unique perspective on the world and rich material for artistic practice. In this lecture Professor Timothy Nohe will present examples from his own work with a focus on site-specific sound and music composition practices.

Professor Timothy Nohe (UMBC): Timothy Nohe is an artist and educator engaging traditional and electronic media in daily life and public places. His recent work has been realized in intermedia works, sound scores for dance, improvisational concert works, and art focused on sustainability. Nohe was the recipient of a 2006 Fulbright Senior Scholar Award from the Australian - American Fulbright Commission and a 2011 Fulbright Alumni Initiative Grant to foster international exchange with the Centre for Creative Arts, La Trobe. Numerous state and city arts council grants have supported his creative research. He is Professor of Visual Arts at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and founding Director, Center for Innovation, Research and Creativity in the Arts (CIRCA) at UMBC.
